“9 to 5” is a stage adaptation of the 1980 film “9 to 5,” featuring music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and a book by Patricia Resnick. The story is set in the late 1970s and centers around three female office workers—Violet Newstead, Judy Bernly, and Doralee Rhodes—who are fed up with their sexist, egotistical, and tyrannical boss, Franklin Hart Jr.
After a series of comical and frustrating incidents, the three women bond over their shared grievances. In a drug-induced fantasy, they imagine what it would be like to take revenge on their boss. An accidental turn of events leads them to actually kidnap Hart, and they take over the office, running it in a more efficient and employee-friendly way.
With its upbeat tunes, memorable characters, and empowering message, this show is perfect for anyone who loves a good laugh and a dose of inspiration. Come see why ‘9 to 5’ is the ultimate feel-good musical event of the season!”
9 to 5 is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
